Artist Statment
Paint, text, lines, separations and overlaps are key to the work of Indi Jones. She communicates primarily through color as the outline. Panes of pigment are windows into her world and the images, words, and objects floating on, above or just under the panes are what she imagines the inside of our souls look like. Usually, a lonely figure will make its way into the work, looking for wings, or laundry, or a target to hit. More often than not, a larger than normal body part or object will make an appearence and the effect is generally humorous. The overlaps and separations are deliberate. The brief statements worked into wet paint are usually something her Mom said that is still part of the soundtrack of her mind. There is no clear method that one could pick out, but her work is distinctive and sensual and occasionally she feels like she gets it right.
